Active shining mudguards improve the road safety enormously. Usually a biker has got no active light to the side. Only little light from the front- and backlight can be recognised from the side. To the side, there are only reflectors, which again need an active light source, and the efficiency of those cat eyes is comparatively low.
The Shining Guards are made of a special EL-foil (electroluminescence). To use the foil you need an inverter that transforms the current delivered by an accumulator up to 120V and 400Hz DC. The accumulator can easily be recharged during the ride by a hub dynamo. Without a recharge, and a 2100 mAh accumulator, the mud guards will shine approximately for five hours.
The front mud guard is white, the back mud guard is red. This determines the direction to which the bike rides for all other road users. And the two bends of the mud guards make clear that the road user is a biker. Shining Guards are improving the road safety in general and the side safety of bikers in special.
You only need an additional headlight, but as the emitted light from the back mud guard is bright enough, you don't need an additional backlight. |
